  • History of Newport Heart

Dr. Edward Kim received his MD from The Chicago Medical School in Illinois in 2007.  He then completed his Internal Medicine residency and Cardiology fellowship training at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
Following that, he went to the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor for further sub-specialization, and completed his Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology fellowship in 2015.  He is board certified in Cardiovascular Diseases and Cardiac Electrophysiology.

Dr. Kim joined Newport Heart Medical Group in 2024, after nearly a decade of experience in Riverside, California, where he built the most advanced electrophysiology program at Riverside Community Hospital.
As Director of Electrophysiology there, he developed a comprehensive program for complex atrial fibrillation ablation, as well as left atrial appendage closure using the Watchman device.
He also brings unique experience to Hoag Hospital using new technology, left bundle branch physiologic pacing, to implant pacemakers.
